Approximately two and a half years since the reveal of The Witcher 4, now more formally recognized as the next chapter in the renewed Witcher series, CD Projekt has announced the nearing completion of the game's pre-production phase, with a transition to full-scale development set to commence shortly.

The company's co-CEO, Michał Nowakowski, made the announcement via a press statement that detailed the company's progress throughout 2024, indicating that the upcoming Witcher title, currently under the codename Polaris, is approaching a significant juncture that will signify the conclusion of its initial development phase.

Accompanying CD Projekt's most recent financial disclosures, their CFO, Piotr Nielubowicz, further elaborated on Nowakowski's disclosure, noting, "Team Polaris has made considerable strides in developing the forthcoming installment of The Witcher series, positioning us to soon finalize the preparatory phase and elevate the endeavor into its full-scale development stage."

Simultaneously, CD Projekt continues its efforts on additional ventures, namely Orion, Sirius, and Hadar. Sirius, which is a derivative game set in The Witcher universe, underwent a review and reset last year. Meanwhile, Hadar represents a completely new IP from the studio. Orion is known to be the successor to Cyberpunk 2077 (potentially featuring multiplayer components), with its Boston-based team diligently establishing the project's foundation, as Nowakowski mentioned in a recent studio briefing.

On another note, while discussing the company's latest financial outcomes, Nowakowski verified, courtesy of a tip from IGN, CD Projekt's intent to extend their animated ventures within the Cyberpunk universe, riding on the wave of success brought about by the Netflix series, Edgerunners. Despite CD Projekt's Japan country manager, Satoru Honma, ruling out a second season in 2022, Nowakowski asserts that there is definitely more animated content on the horizon.
